2024 SummerSlam, also promoted as SummerSlam: Cleveland, was a professional wrestling event produced by WWE. It was the 37th annual SummerSlam and took place on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at Cleveland Browns Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio. The event was broadcast via pay-per-view (PPV) and livestreaming and featured wrestlers from the promotion's Raw and Smackdown brand divisions. This was the second SummerSlam event to be held in Cleveland, following the 1996 event at Gund Arena (now known as Rocket Mortgage Field House). This was the first SummerSlam held since WWE's merger with Endeavor subsidiary Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) in September 2023 under the TKO Group Holdings banner. It was the final SummerSlam to be streamed live on the standalone WWE Network, with WWE content moving to Netflix in January 2025, with the service set to be discontinued in any markets where it is still available. Announced on March 12, 2024, the 37th SummerSlam was scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at Cleveland Browns Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio and featured wrestlers from the Raw and SmackDown brand divisions. This was the second SummerSlam held in Cleveland after the 1996 event, which was held at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse when the venue was still known as Gund Arena.
On July 15, 2024, WWE Chief Content Officer Paul "Triple H" Levesque announced two official theme songs for the event by country singer Jelly Roll: "Dead and Road" and "Lear". Triple H also invited Jelly Roll to sing "God Bless America" and "Lier" at the event.[8] Jelly Roll was later featured in a SummerSlam promo video.[9] During the July 22 episode of Monday Night Raw, it was announced that Jelly Roll would perform "Lear" live at SummerSlam.[10] Japanese wrestler Naomichi Marufuji of Pro Wrestling Noah was also announced as a special guest at SummerSlam, later confirmed as a guest commentator for the event's broadcast on Japan's Abema streaming service.
SummerSlam was broadcast live on traditional pay-per-view worldwide and was also available for livestream on Peacock in the United States, Disney+ Hotstar in Indonesia, Disney+ in the Philippines, Binge in Australia, Abema in Japan, SonyLive in India, and WWE. Network in all other countries. In January 2024, WWE announced that all WWE Network content would be moved to Netflix in all countries where the former was still an independent service beginning in January 2025, making the 2024 event the final SummerSlam to be streamed live on the WWE Network.
The card consisted of seven matches that resulted from a scripted storyline. Results were predetermined by WWE's writers on the Raw and SmackDown brands, while storylines were created on WWE's weekly television programs, Monday Night Raw and Friday Night SmackDown.
