Blackhut is a 2015 American action thriller film produced and directed by Michael Mann and starring Chris Hemsworth, Tang Wei, Viola Davis and Wang Leehom. A nuclear plant in Hong Kong goes into meltdown when a hacker causes a coolant pump to overheat and explode. Soon after, the Chicago Mercantile Exchange was hacked, sending soy futures soaring. The Chinese government and the FBI determined that the hack was done using a remote access tool. Captain Chen Dawai of the People's Liberation Army Cyber Warfare Unit is tasked with tracking down the hacker, and enlists the help of his sister Lien, a networking engineer. He meets with FBI Special Agent Carol Barrett in Los Angeles and reveals that key parts of the code in the tool were written by himself and his college roommate Nicholas Hathaway during their time at MIT. Daodai requests that Hathaway, who is in prison for hacking banks, be offered temporary release in exchange for his services. Hathaway, knowing how important he is to the investigation, demands new terms: if the hacker is identified and caught with his help, his prison sentence is commuted. Drawn by Key's signature, the Terrorcons arrive on Earth and attack the Autobots outside the museum, with Elena caught in the crossfire. Scourge kills Bumblebee, steals the key, and the Terrorcons retreat when Maximum Airzor arrives. Airazor reveals that the Maximals have been hidden on Earth for millennia, and that Scourge only has half of the Transwarp Key, which was split in two to keep it away from Unicron. Optimus insists that the key be reassembled so the Autobots can use it back home, while Noah secretly plots to destroy the key to protect Earth.
Hathaway hacks an update system on Jessup's phone GPS that tracks his location, allowing him to follow her lead and arrange a meeting with the hacker's partner at a restaurant. While they wait, he tells Leanne about his past, but the partner does not arrive. The nuclear plant has stabilized enough to retrieve the data drive from the control room, but it is contaminated by radiation. The National Security Agency's Black Widow software has the ability to repair data, but they refuse to allow Chinese access. Reluctantly approved by Barrett, Hathaway hacks into the NSA and uses Black Widow, discovering that the hacker's server is in Jakarta. Lien learns that a hacker is buying high-resolution satellite photos of a site near Seri Manjung, Malaysia.
Hathaway speculates that the hacker's attack on the nuclear plant was just a test of a later plan: to sabotage a large dam and destroy several large tin mines in Malaysia, allowing the hacker to profit by buying tin options. In Jakarta, he hacks the bank's computer and transfers the hacker's funds to Hathaway's Swiss bank account, then forces the hacker, Sadak, to contact him. Road and Hathaway agree to meet and discuss the partnership; Hathaway anticipates a double-cross and equips himself with makeshift weapons and body armor that he conceals under his clothing.
